Former ambassador to Germany, John Emerson, and former ambassador for Special Political Affairs at the United Nations, Stuart Holliday, joined American Ambassadors Live! Podcast host Ambassador Jim Rosapepe to discuss the selection of non-career ambassadors.

 

Ambassador John B. Emerson served as the U.S. Ambassador to Germany from 2013 to 2017. Ambassador Emerson also served on President Obama’s Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations and as President Clinton's Deputy Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, where he was the President's liaison to the nation's governors.


Ambassador Stuart W. Holliday served as U.S. ambassador for Special Political Affairs at the United Nations from 2003 to 2005. Ambassador Holliday also served as Special Assistant to the President and Associate Director of Presidential Personnel at the White House from 2000 to 2001, where he advised the President on appointments to the State Department, Ambassadorships, and many other departments and organizations.

Ambassador Jim Rosapepe served as the U.S. Ambassador to Romania from 1998 to 2001 and is a member of the CAA Board of Directors. He currently is Chairman and CEO of Patuxent Capital Group LLC and serves in the Maryland State Senate.
