Opening Doors - The Abraham Accords
Ambassador David Fischer and Ambassador John Rakolta served on the front lines of the Middle East peace process in Morocco and the United Arab Emirates. While tensions in the Middle East continued to fester, nonetheless Ambassadors Fischer and Rakolta helped to normalize relations between Israel and Morocco, and between Israel and the UAE. In addition to their peacebuilding efforts in the region, Ambassadors Fischer and Rakolta also developed deeper relationships between the U.S. and their host nations. In this Roundtable, they offer a behind-the-scenes look at the unique opportunities and challenges they faced as non-career ambassadors as well as the creation of the Abraham Accords.
