Former U.S. Ambassador to the European Union and Azerbaijan, Richard Morningstar, joined American Ambassadors Live! Podcast host Ambassador Philip Hughes to explore the history behind the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict and the current instability in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Ambassador Richard Morningstar served as the U.S. Ambassador to the European Union from 1999 to 2001 and as Ambassador to Azerbaijan from 2012 to 2014. His distinguished career in foreign service also includes his time as special adviser to the President and Secretary of State on assistance for the new independent states of the former Soviet Union. Ambassador Morningstar is now the founding chairman of the Global Energy Center and a board director at the Atlantic Council.
Ambassador G. Philip Hughes served as the U.S. Ambassador to Barbados, Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines from 1990 to 1993. Prior his appointment, Ambassador Hughes served as Executive Secretary of the National Security Council during 1989 and 1990. He is the Senior Vice President of the Council of American Ambassadors and a Senior Director at the White House Writers Group.
